Wilma Jean Williams, 92, of Chapmanville, WV, formerly of Columbia, TN, departed this life on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV.
Born September 7, 1929, at Burns, TN, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lucie Welch.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gordan Williams; one sister, Leona Welch; and two brothers, Blake Welch and Jewel Welch.
Wilma was a sweet lady who devoted her life to helping others. For many years, she volunteered at the Maury Regional Hospital in Maury County, TN. Before retirement, she had also worked in telephone communications. In her spare time, her favorite hobby included working crossword puzzles.
Though she was the last surviving relative of her immediate family, she leaves behind special friends whom she considered family. Those include: Dallas (Edie) Vance, Nancy Erickson, Linda Johnson, and Dewey Garland. She also leaves behind multiple cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Tommy Vance and Elder Tom Vance officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home.
Wilma will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens in Dickson, TN.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
