William Randolph "Bill" Davis Obituary

William Randolph Davis, better known as Bill, 84, of Chapmanville, WV, received his heavenly reward on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of 60 years, Florence Adams Davis; his only son, William Jason Davis of Logan, WV; special nephew Brad Craddock and his wife, Karla Craddock both of Chapmanville, WV; brother-in-law, Orville Adams; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.

Bill was a longtime active member and deacon of the Striker Bible Church at Crawley Creek.

Born November 20, 1940, Bill was the only son of William Percival Davis and Carma Cook Davis. “Billy” grew up in West Logan, WV, and was a proud graduate of Logan High School, Class of 1959.

Bill, who worked all his adult life, began employment alongside his father at the former Harris Funeral Home in Logan, later transitioning to the telecommunication industry where he built a career that spanned six decades. He started with C&P/AT&T where his employment ranged from the business office to that of a lineman and installer.

During that time, he met the true love of his life, Florence Adams, and they were married on June 19, 1965, and recently celebrated their 60-year union.

His varied years of knowledge and experiences allowed him to start his own successful business, Davis Teleconsulting.

A Christian man of integrity and character, Bill Davis excelled in business, due in great part to his unwavering honesty and love of helping others. Always a man of service, Bill regularly participated in blood drives and volunteered routinely with many local charities. He was also a member of the Aracoma Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M. in Logan, WV, for over 50 years.

Mr. Davis was often described by others as never meeting a stranger and one who led with kindness and a gentle heart. That was evident in his love of children, even portraying Santa Clause in the annual City of Logan Christmas parades and later while serving two terms as a member of the Logan County Board of Education.

After his retirement from AT&T, Bill became a vital member of the team at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, where he provided many years of service, respect, and guidance to grieving families as a funeral attendant. Bill Davis, with his gentle heart and love for Jesus always on display, leaves behind a legacy of kindness and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Bill’s name to: Amazing Grace Food Pantry at P.O. Box 4531 Chapmanville, WV 25508.
