William Eldon Williamson Obituary

William Eldon Williamson, “Bill”, “The Piano Man”, 80 of Logan, WV entered the Sacred Garden in Heaven to walk with Jesus on Sunday, August 1, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born January 1, 1941 at Man, WV, the son of William Ervin Williamson and Polly Sammons – Williamson. Bill was also the stepson of Ethel Mae “Mother” Williamson after his birth mother passed away when he was 5 months old.

After surviving a dynamite accident at the tender age of 16, once he recovered from his injuries, Bill studied and mastered the art of Piano Tuning and Technical Repair at Romney School for the Deaf and Blind in Romney, WV. He served the Tri-State area in his trade for 56 years, as his loyal customers would not “allow” him to retire because he was the best in his trade, tuning by ear, always to perfection. Throughout his career he developed lifelong friendships with his customers who came to lovingly refer to him as The Piano Man. As the blood legacy of Ervin Williamson of The Williamson Brothers, he will live on forever in the American Epic Documentary, telling his father’s story of pioneering recorded music in America for generations to come. Through the American Epic journey he found the love and treasured friendship of the creators, Bernard McMahon and Allison McGourty.

His love for his wife, daughters and grandchildren always came first in his life. Aside from his deep love of family, Bill also enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his amazing talents playing guitar, piano and singing.  He was a one of a kind gentleman who was loved by all who knew him. His integrity, grit, perseverance, positivity, generous heart and loving ways shined through to everyone, always putting others before himself without question.

In addition to his Mother, Father and Step-Mother he was preceded in death by his siblings, brother Floyd Williamson and sisters, Helen Lawrentz and Juanita Brooks, grandson Leo Alexander Williamson and nephew Michael Anthony Socosky.

Bill is survived by his Loving Wife of 55 years, LaDonna Anne Socosky-Williamson; daughters, Elizabeth Marcella(Frank, deceased) Dillon of Logan,WV, Regina Renee’ (Sherman) Kirk of McConnell, WV and  special daughter in heart, Denise Marie Hale of Switzer, WV; grandchildren, Kimberly (Josh) Crum, Gabrielle (Tyler) Collins, Dakota Dillon, William Kirk, Matthew Dillon and special granddaughter in heart, Alexandria Metz; great granddaughters, Kylie Collins and Rayleigh Collins; Special Brother in Law who he looked at as a son, Don (Carol) Socosky of Madison, OH; nephews Tenis (Tammy) Gore of Jackson Springs, NC, Ervin “Rusty” Williamson of Durham, NC, great nephew Cody Gore of Jackson Springs, NC; nieces Melody (Bruce) McClain of Cincinnati, OH and Nicole Brooks of Charleston, SC.; step brother Raymond (Teresa) Williamson of Verdunville, WV; special niece and nephew Nina Hamilton of Akron, OH and Lucas “Leon” Hamilton of Washington D.C., and a host of extended family and wonderful friends.
