William “Bill” McSwain, 54, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
He was born March 27, 1969, in Cecil County, MD, a son of Sharon Poore Brooks of Elkton, MD, and the late William G. McSwain.
Bill was a marine mechanic, having restored numerous boats to their former glory. His work and expertise made him a respected figure among his friends and within the boating community. Aside from his job, Bill had many interests. He was happiest when he was boating or riding the trails with family and friends. His giving heart was legendary. He was always the first to offer help and could fix just about anything that needed repaired. His home was often filled with music, laughter, and the warmth of his presence as he entertained friends with his musical and dancing talents. Above all, Bill was a family man. He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the lights of his life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila McSwain; his mother, Sharon Brooks of Elkton, MD; five children, Carl, Junior, Christina, Jennifer, and L.J.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Steve McSwain and Allen McSwain; and one sister, Sarah Cravotta. Additionally, Bill leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
To honor Bill’s wishes, his remains will be cremated. No services are scheduled at this time.
