Wanda Mae Deskins, 87, of Pecks Mill, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023, leaving from her earthly residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 26, 1936, at Lejunior, KY, a daughter of the late Charlie H. and Dorothy Viola Holman Clark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Deskins; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Deskins; one grandson, Timmie Lee Deskins; one daughter-in-law, Kimberly Sue Deskins; seven brothers, Carl E. “Jack” Clark, William Earl Clark, Clyde Ray Clark, Clarence Clark, Bobby Joe Clark, Ronald Gene Clark, and Donnie Clark; and four sisters, Shelby Adkins, Audrey Clark, Barbara Burke, and Thelma Lou Clark.

Wanda was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with pride and devotion. As a long-standing member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church at Henlawson, WV, her voice was a familiar and cherished presence in the church choir, where she sang with heartfelt passion and grace. A woman of many interests, Wanda enjoyed the simple things in life. She could often be seen walking, a pastime that brought her peace and allowed her to appreciate the beauty of nature. She also enjoyed shopping. In addition, she found great joy tending to her flowers which were always beautiful trademarks of her home.

Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Phillip Deskins, Timmie (Sherry) Deskins, and Michael (Kimberly R.) Deskins, all of Pecks Mill, WV, and Aaron (Gwen) Deskins of Henlawson, WV; three grandsons, David (Terri) Deskins, Michael (Shalee Lucas) Deskins, and Jeremy Deskins; one granddaughter, Carrie Dawn (Brandon) Colegrove; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Deskins, Jadyn Colegrove, and Marli Deskins; one brother, Tommy Clark of Kistler, WV; and one sister, Sharon Lynn Vance of Columbus, OH. Additionally, Wanda leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Joey Kennedy officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
