Virginia Lee (Workman) Barker “Jennie”

Born September 26, 1927 departed this life August 6, 2021 in Parkersburg WV.  She was 93 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Noble and Elizabeth Workman of Ramage, WV.  Jennie graduated from Scott High School in 1945.  After graduation she married Winfred Barker.  They were married for 64 years.  Jennie and Winfred have 3 sons.

Early years they lived in Logan County, WV.  They moved to Ravenswood, WV and then Parkersburg, WV.  Jennie was a bookkeeper for Fred Miller Lumber Company in Ravenswood in the early 60’s.  She will always be remembered as a fantastic cook, immaculate homemaker and a hard worker.  She always had something prepared good to eat!

She is survived by her three sons:  Michael of Parkersburg, WV, Patrick (Karen) of Ravenswood, WV, and Grant of Parkersburg, WV.  She is survived by her brother Bobby L. Workman (Wanda) of Charleston, WV and sister Margaret West (William) of Gallipolis, OH.  Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Winfred, brother Noble G. Workman and sister Helen Lilly. 

She was known as “Nanny” by all the children.  She has seven grandchildren:  Michelle (Tyler) Ritchie, Bart Barker, Patrick Barker II, Jessica(Dan)Bazzoli, Valicity Barker, Demetria Smith, and Grant(Chelsey)Barker II.  Jennie has 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her greatly. 

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.  Interment will follow the service.
