Virgil Joe Craddock

Mr. Virgil Joe Craddock, 99, of Lake, WV, born September 14, 1922, a son of Gilmer and Nora Craddock. He departed this life on Monday, August 1, 2022, at his residence.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, Marjorie Ann Craddock; two sisters, Ruth Ball and Inez McNeely, and two brothers, Elmo and Curtis Craddock.

Mr. Craddock was a member of the Logan Church of the Nazarene in Logan, WV, for over 75 years. He enjoyed going to church and worshipping the Lord. He worked for Island Creek Coal Company and Northern Coal Company as a heavy equipment mechanic. Joe, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed living in Florida for six months during the winter, and he also enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory include Michael Craddock, his grandson, whom was his primary caretaker for the last three years; two children, Rodney David (Emelene) Craddock of Lake, WV, and Katrina Sue Craddock of Huntington, WV; three grandchildren, Michael D. Craddock, son of Rodney, of Lake, WV, Stephany (Wylie) Stephenson and Kelly (Jacob) Grahovac, daughters of Katrina, both residing in South Carolina; five great-granddchildren, Alex, Trey, Nicholas, Madison, and Kingsley; one sister, Edna Napier of Pigeon Roost, WV.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hargraves and Rev. Robert Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, where Military Funeral Honors will be observed. Joe’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday at Evans Funeral Home.
