Virgil Edward “Brother” Saunders, 78, formerly of Chapmanville, WV, passed away April 18, 2022, after an illness.

He was born May 23, 1943, the son of the late Johnny and Lena Saunders of Vickers Branch, Chapmanville, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Drewey Saunders, Donald Saunders, Bobby Saunders, Grady Saunders, and Billy Saunders; and two sisters, Edna Barker and Evelyn Thomas.

He leaves behind two sons, Steven (Sandy) Saunders and Jerry (Sandra) Saunders all of Tennessee. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Saunders was a retired U.S. Army Veteran serving his country with two tours in Vietnam.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church at Turtle Creek, WV, with Rev. Earl Hill, Jr. officiating. Military services will follow.
