Vicky Lynn Brewster, beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister, and friend, passed peacefully from this world after a short but fearless battle with cancer on Monday, June 23, 2025. 

She is leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and quiet resilience. 

Born and raised along the winding hills of Lincoln County, West Virginia, on May 20, 1956, Vicky carried the enduring spirit of the mountains with her throughout her life. The daughter of the late Ward and Dorothy Lucas, Vicky was one of eleven children in a bustling, love-filled household. With eight sisters and two brothers, she learned early the values of hard work, loyalty, and the kind of grit that only grows in Appalachian soil. She later brought those same values to Romney, West Virginia, where she (and Jerry) built a home, raised a family, and grew deep roots of her own.

Vicky was the devoted wife and best friend of Jerry Brewster. They would have celebrated their 47th anniversary this month. She was the fiercely loving mother of Daniel and Jennifer Brewster and the “nanny” of Grandin Lewis—her proudest accomplishments and the truest reflections of her heart. Her “children” are monuments to her quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering belief in kindness, even when the world offers little in return. She stood by them with fierce devotion, guiding them gently through life’s challenges without letting the world harden their spirits. They are all three her pride and joy. 

A creature of habit and a lover of life’s simple joys with Jerry, Vicky found beauty in the everyday. She delighted in her garden, watching the birds outside her window, and spotting deer and wildlife on “the rides” she and Jerry loved. She never stopped marveling at the natural wonder of West Virginia, which was always home. Her hands, always busy with work or tending to something/someone she loved, were also the hands that prepared countless meals—nourishing not just the body, but the soul, with comfort foods made with care.

Those who knew Vicky knew her presence was a quiet but unshakable constant—steady, dependable, and deeply loving.

Her absence will leave a hollow space in the lives of those who loved her, but her spirit endures in the wildflowers she admired, in the warmth of a home-cooked meal, in the resilience of Daniel, Jennifer, and Grandin, and in the quiet strength of the mountains she called home.

Vicky Lynn Brewster’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and living with grace. 

She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.

There will be a celebration of life at 11:00 A.M. at Evans Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV, on Saturday, June 29, 2025.
