Tom Scott Adams, 54, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospital at Huntington, WV.


He was born July 17, 1970, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Tom and Margaret Tomblin Adams.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lewis and Gladys Adams; his maternal grandparents, Howard and Gracie Tomblin; three infant siblings; two sisters, Annie Abbott and Jannifer Browning; and his parents-in-law, Clyde and Irene Plumley.


Tom made his living as a carpenter. His skilled hands and creative mind led to a successful career spanning several decades. Tom's love for working with his hands extended beyond his professional life into his personal passions. He was an avid gardener, and he took pride in his meticulously crafted woodwork pieces that graced the homes of family and friends. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for hunting and fishing, activities that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. Family was the cornerstone of Tom's world. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. His warm, engaging personality made him a favorite during family gatherings, and he was known for his long, heartfelt conversations on the phone with loved ones, never missing an opportunity to express his care and support or tell a few jokes.


Tom's generous spirit shone brightly in his role as a foster parent. Together, he and Connie opened their hearts and home to many children, providing a safe and loving environment that made a lasting impact on numerous lives. His legacy of craftsmanship and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Those left to cherish his memory are his precious canine companion, Minnie Pearl; his wife, Connie Adams; his children, Tracie (David) Vance, Nicholas (Amber) Mitchem, Ashley Dawn (Erica) Mitchem, and Harley Nicholas-Adams; his grandchildren including his favorite grandson, Jefferylee Scott Vance, Makayla Vance, Hayden Mitchem, Allie Mitchem, and Bryce Ciszewski; his foster children, Storm, Josh, Trenton, and Brandon (Lexi); one sister, Gladys (David) Spencer; three brothers-in-law, Ronald “Punk” Abbott, Freddie Browning, and George (Terri) Plumley; and one sister-in-law, Esta “Mudder” Griffin. Additionally, Tom leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.


Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 P.M.


To honor Tom’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.
