Thomas Nelson “Tommy” Oliver, 75, of Myrtle Beach, SC, went home to be with the Lord and his family waiting for him in Heaven on Monday, February 24, 2025, leaving from his earthly residence.
He was born April 20, 1949, at Boone County, WV, a son of the late Francis Marion Oliver, Sr., and Thelma Myers Oliver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Myers, George Oliver, and Francis Marion Oliver, Jr.; and three sisters, Violet Wilson, Betty Adkins, and Elsie Deweese.
Tommy dedicated many years of hard work at Union Carbide before his retirement. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, he served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and commitment that would define his entire life. Tommy was an avid WVU fan. His enthusiasm for his beloved Mountaineers was as infectious as his warm smile. His love for fishing was more than a hobby, it was a reflection of his appreciation for nature. Above all, Tommy was a good Christian man, whose faith guided him all throughout his life.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Yoni Oliver; his stepson, Clark Watts; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kim; and two granddaughters, Talia Chambers and Jada Chambers. Additionally, Tommy leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, with Pastor Roscoe Chafin officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Chapter #6153, American Legion Chapter #103 of Chapmanville, and DAV Chapter #39 of Harts.
