Beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Thomas Joseph Gagnon, passed on as his wife sat by his side January 4, 2021.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, Cyd; sister, Maxine Henning, children, Kim, Greg, Karen, Kris, Kelli and Tamara; many kin and friends who are family, treasured pets, JoJo and Bleu and many, many others whose lives he’s touched.
Tom is predeceased by his mother Jean; sisters, Rita, Audrey and Mary (Red) and brother, William.
Tom practiced as a nurse anesthetist for over 4 decades, including at Logan General Hospital since 1971, and lived a life most would only have experienced in books and travelogues. From his humble roots in Michigan to the mountains of West Virginia and many places in between, he chose the roads less traveled and connected with a variety of characters only he could properly explain with one of his colorful and animated stories. Tales of his adventures will be the centerpiece of many family gatherings yet to come. And there are many stories to tell.
Tom was a kind, thoughtful, generous man, his humility and compassion were lessons in grace and his unconditional love for all beings is among some of his most precious gifts. Tom was an avid outdoorsman/sportsman, a jack of all trades, a courageous and humble hero, a creative and passionate human being who lived life fiercely. His gruff exterior masked a teddy bear heart of gold.
Together, he and Cyd, also an anesthetist shared an amazing life, filled full of love, laughs, tears, sorrow and joy. We will miss our strong head of the Gagnon family but will continue to hold him in our hearts and minds, connecting with him on another level throughout our lives.
Tom and Cyd made a home, a safe place to land for us all. Forever, we are family.
"Where the rivers flow
Past the confluence of life
We will meet you there."
