Theodore Roosevelt “Sonny” Scites, Jr., 79, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.

He was born December 3, 1946, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Scites, Sr., and Annie Marie Jones Scites.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Scites; two sisters, Mary Crane and Brenda Atkins; and two brothers, James “Teddy” Scites and Daniel Eugene Scites, Sr.

Affectionately known as Sonny, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. An avid outdoorsman, Sonny loved fishing and hunting. He will long be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, John Scites of Chapmanville, WV, and Scott Scites of Mississippi; one daughter, Deanna Scites of Chapmanville, WV; a very special adopted son, William Mills of Logan, WV; his grandchildren, Vix (Brie), Austin Scites, Alexis Vannatter, and Mercedes Scites; and two great-grandchildren, Kylinn Holbrook and Sterling Holbrook. Additionally, Sonny leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

To honor Sonny’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.
