Terrie Jean Dickerson Obituary

Terrie Jean (Adkins) Dickerson, 76, of Jeffrey, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 29, 2023, leaving from her earthly residence.

She was born February 7, 1947, at Ethel, WV, a daughter of the late Truman and Edna Wilburn Adkins.

Terrie retired from the Boone County Board of Education where she had served as a school cook. She dedicated her life to her family and her community. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was the heart of her family. Terrie was a devout Christian and a steadfast member of Spruce Laurel Church, where her commitment to her faith was evident in the way she lived her life, full of grace and gratitude.

Her service to her community extended beyond her professional career as she was a lifetime member of the Spruce River Volunteer Fire Department. She selflessly gave many years of service as a first responder, where she proudly served the residents of Boone County. Terrie possessed a special talent for crafting and making jewelry. Singing gospel music was another one of Terrie's passions. Her memory will be treasured forever by all those who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Dickerson, Sr.; two sons, Jimmy Dale (Jennifer) Barker of Clothier, WV, and Gary Lee (Shelley) Dickerson, Jr., of Willow Spring, NC; five grandchildren, Heaven Adkins, Felicia Stanley, Ashley Barker, Alexis Dickerson, and Brylee Dickerson; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Deloris Sampson of Monaville, WV, Billie Adams of Randleman, NC, and Jerrie Knisley of Kendallville, IN; one brother, Truman Adkins, Jr., of Lake, WV. Additionally, Terrie leaves behind many nieces and nephews, neighbors, her church family, and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Spruce Laurel Church with Rev. Paul Little and Rev. Ralph Caudill officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Spruce Laurel Church.
