Susan Kathleen Bryant-Vance, 84, of Chapmanville, WV, was born September 24, 1938, in Harts, WV to Mae Dempsey and William Wilson Bryant. She departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2023.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Vance; mother, Mae Dempsey-Stollings; stepfather, Ersel Stollings; and biological father, William Wilson Bryant. She was also preceded in death by her much beloved siblings, Judy Stollings, Ersel “Buddy” Stollings, and Niwanta “Lou” Stollings-Abbott-Rakes. Also preceding her in death was her nephew, Aaron Stollings and niece, Melissa “Missy” Stollings.
Susan taught grade school at White Oak, Conley and Hugh Dingess in the Chapmanville vicinity in the late 50s and early 60s before moving to Chicago with her husband after his active military duty. She attended Striker Bible Church for many years growing up and later after she and her husband retired and moved back to Chapmanville. She was a Chapmanville High School Graduate of the Class of 1957. Susan was a true believer in our Lord and did her best to be a good Christian. May she be granted the Peace and Joy in Heaven that she searched for here on Earth.
She is survived by her children, Krystal L. Vance-Bennett and Mark R. Vance; her grandchildren, Ryan M. Bennett, Brandon L. Bennett, Mark H. Vance, Piercen R. Vance, Jessalynn A. Vance, and David C. Pospishil; her siblings, Deloris Stollings-Dingess-(Warnie) Chambers, Roger (Sharon) Stollings, Curtis “Delno” (Maxine) Stollings, as well as much loved numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
To honor her wishes, her remains have been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
