Steven Willis Temple, Sr. Obituary

Steven Willis Temple, Sr., 52, of Logan, WV, departed this life on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

He was born October 6, 1972, at Lorian, OH, a son of the late Jack Willis Ritchey, Jr., and Peggy Temple Ritchey.

Steve was employed by Gaylock Wrecker Service as a tow truck operator. His commitment to the safety and well-being of his community was further exemplified by his more than 15 years of unwavering service in the fire department. He began his fire service journey as a member of the Logan County Volunteer Fire Department-Station 200 at Man, where his dedication and passion for service shone brightly. He continued to serve as a valued member of the Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department-Station 900 at Verdunville, where his courage and selflessness were an inspiration to all. He gave his time generously, serving his community in any capacity he could.

Beyond his career and community service, Steve enjoyed fishing. It was on the quiet banks of his favorite fishing spots that he would reflect on life and recharge his spirit for his next call to service. His love for fishing was only surpassed by his love for his wife and family. Steve was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend, whose guidance and affection were the cornerstones of his family's happiness. He was a man of service and dedication, and his legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Ashley Temple; his children, Steven Temple, Jr., John (Jessica) Deutchman, Keara Temple, Justina (Charles) Smith, and Megan Temple; 9 grandchildren; his siblings, Orion (Melissa) Ritchey, Jay (Stephanie) Ritchey, Jennifer (Deano) Naro, Lisa Ritchey, Gladys Tolliver, and Amy Temple; his parents-in-law, Clayton and Brenda Moore; his brothers and sisters at the Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department, his co-workers and family at Gaylock Wrecker Service, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
