Shirley G. Stowers, 84, of Danville, WV, formerly of Jeffrey, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023, leaving from Hillcrest Healthcare Center at Danville, WV.
She was born September 11, 1938, at Madison, WV, to the late James and Mary Cooke Canterbury.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie M. Stowers and one son, Terry L. Stowers.
Shirley was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Crossroads Community Church at Chapmanville, WV. She loved gardening, working with her flowers, canning, and taking care of her home. A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, she was devoted to her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Barbara (Howard) Moore of Jeffrey, WV; one grandson, Dr. James E. (Lisa) Moore of Memphis, TN; one granddaughter, Samantha L. Moore of Jeffrey, WV; two great-granddaughters, Hannah Cullison and Haley Cain both of Jeffrey, WV; and one great-grandson, Edwin Moore of Memphis, TN. Additionally, Shirley leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Joe Lane and Rev. Dennie Evans officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stowers Cemetery at Chapmanville, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
