Sheridan Ann Hill, 80, of South Charleston, WV, formerly of Chapmanville, WV, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2023.
She was born October 15, 1942, to the late Bert Compton and Bamma Samson Compton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Michael (Mike) Hill; infant daughter; parents-in-law, Clarence & Mabel Hill; sister-in-law, Marjorie Turnbull, and nephew, Bert Van Compton, II.
Sheridan became a Christian in 1970. She was a member of the Manila Church of Christ, where she formerly taught Sunday School, enjoyed singing in the choir, and church fellowship. Sheridan was a 1960 graduate of Chapmanville High School and thoroughly enjoyed planning and attending high school class reunions. She was a former member of the Logan General Hospital Auxiliary and the Chapmanville Kiwanis Club. Sheridan was affectionally known as one of the “Steele Magnolias,” along with her lifelong friends who she loved dearly… Judy Hainor, Marge Steele, and Judy Meade. The Steele Magnolias had many adventures together, most of which involved traveling, shopping and “talking forever… about nothing.”
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Terri (Donnie) Chapman of New Smyrna Beach, FL; son, Michael Hill of Salem, WV; grandsons, Donnie Lee & Tyler Chapman; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bert Van & Sue Compton and Alice McClure; special nieces and nephew, Amy Beth Compton, Tammy Turnbull, Caroline Butler, Jill Turnbull, and Jimmy Turnbull; childhood friend, Joyce Herald; and special caregiver, Jennifer McCallister. Additionally, Sheridan leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Minister Jim Owston officiating.
