Shelba Jean Lawhun

Shelba Jean Lawhun, 83, of Gilbert, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022, leaving from her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born July 10, 1938, at Ranger, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Alva Adkins Colegrove.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Lawhun; two sisters, Kathryn Justice and Patricia Colegrove; two brothers, Robert Colegrove and Mansfield Thomas “Robin” Colegrove; one nephew, Jerry Michael “Mikey” Colegrove; one brother-in-law, Martin Hunt; and one sister-in-law, Marcia Colegrove.

Shelba was a homemaker, and she loved her family. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of the Tamcliffe Tabernacle for over 40 years where she served as treasurer and bookkeeper. Shelba enjoyed cleaning, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Denver Lawhun, Jr., of Gilbert, WV, and Jeffrey Allen (Sharon) Lawhun of Panther, WV; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Howard) Blankenship of Man, WV; three grandsons, Nicholas Hatfield of Amherstdale, WV, Joey Hatfield of Parkersburg, WV, and Jordan Lawhun of Coal Mountain, WV; one great-granddaughter, Keely Hatfield; two great-grandsons, Lucas Hatfield and Boston Hatfield; two sisters, Francis (Robert) Mullins of Ohio and Myrtle Hunt of Lorado, WV; special friends, Diane Dean, Gary Browning, Delores Johnston, and Truby Abbott. Additionally, Shelba leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, at a later date.

To honor Shelba’s wishes, her remains will be cremated.
