Sadie Stansilaus Branham of Chapmanville, WV, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the age of 81.
She was born on November 13, 1939 in Newfoundland, Canada to the late William and Edna Wells. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by one daughter, Donna Dishman of Huntington.
Sadie was a dedicated cook for the Logan County Board of Education for over 25 years, where she was known in the kitchen as “Flo”. Her passion was to make sure all children was well fed. She was the Past President of the American Legion Auxillary Post 103 of Chapmanville and a member of the VFW Post 6513. She attended Manila Church of Christ for many years along with Crawley Church of God with Leah in her later years. Her hobbies included shopping, cleaning, fishing, and attending church when she was able to.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 25 years, Phillip Branham who devoted the last several years to taking care of her; her daughters Barbara (Ross) Stubblefield of Huntington, Judy (Eric) Hurley of Low Gap, and Leah (Chuck) Bias of Turtle Creek; her sons, Larry (Nancy) Dishman of Huntington and Arnold (Barbie) Killen of Harts, and stepson, Phillip (Leigh-Ann) Branham, Jr., of Logan; grandchildren, Donald, Tiffany, Whitney, Farron, Dakota, Cheyenne, Nick, Taylor, Cassidy, Justin, Brandon, and Macayla, and a host of great-grandchildren.
Many who knew her, knew her as “Sadie Lady”. Her energetic smile and sassy personality would light up a room. She loved giving and helping anyone who was in need, often taking clothes from her own drawers.
To walk in her home and hear her say, “Hello, my love,” was precious to her family and will be sadly missed. We want to thank her loving caregivers, Rose Artist, Regina Scarboro, and Mary Elkins who each took the very best care of her, Boone Memorial Hospital second floor nursing staff, Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville, and Dr. Tom Takubo and The Pulmonary Assocoiates of Charleston for their years of excellent care and treatment.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Vivie Marcum officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
Pallbearers will be Nick Fowler, Travis Podunavac, Brandon Killen, Paul Artist, Adam Stollings, Jordan Evans, and Izaac Fowler.
Honorary pallbearer will be Farron Wynn Hurley.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
