Ruth McCoy Chapman, 92, of Holly Ridge, NC, went to be with The Lord and her waiting loved ones on January 15th, 2026. Ruth was loved by all who knew her. She had the sweetest, purest spirit, children were the love and light of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her loss will be felt for a generation. She was cherished.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Samuel H. Chapman (Bokie), her daughter, Ruth Martin, three sons, Terry Lee Chapman, Gregory Chapman and Dana Chapman of Huntington WV, one grandson, Jacob Bolin, her parents, Fred and Carrie McCoy, brothers, Hiram, Fred, and Earl McCoy, sisters, Ruby Cook, Wanda Eskins, Iva Midkiff, all she will join in heaven.

Her survivors are brothers Cecil McCoy (Fran), Russell McCoy (Liddie), sisters Hazel Chapman (Jack), Geneva Fields, Rebecca Whitt, daughters Vicky Short (Larry), Deborah Persun (Bob), sons Duane and Todd Chapman (Phyllis) all of NC, her grandchildren Larry Lee Short (Tamra), Brandy Coleman (Russ), Samuel Oldaker (Virginia), Vanessa Davis, Andre' Persun (Tammy), Mariah Smith (Cooper), Seth Cart, Brent Muldavin, Kea Bolin, JuLesa Chapman, Chayce Horton (Marcus), Logan Chapman, Katie Chapman, Dakota Chapman (Celeste). Great-grandchildren are, Paige Griffith, Alexus Whisman, Harley Davis, Chloe Oldaker, Zeke Martin, Ellianna Short, Sylvi Smith, Shawna Caph, Holly Smith, Alanna Cart, Me'Leyna and Lenny Murph, Kyrie Horton, Ayden and Cora Chapman, Delylah and Johnathan Chapman. Great-great-grand children, Kyle Persun, Kinsley Caph, Chis and Ayden Smith. A host of nieces and nephews she adored, many in-laws that she loved dearly. Rest in Peace sweet, sweet woman of God.

Services will be held at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 334 Crawley Creek Rd., Chapmanville, WV, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, (Viewing) 12-2 pm and burial to follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Chapmanville, WV.
