Roy Lee Shanklin, 77, of Logan, WV, departed this life on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Trinity Healthcare Center of Logan.

He was born November 27, 1947, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Orville Thomas Shanklin and Mary Ruth Ball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Bourne Shanklin; his grandparents, Bert and Beulah Ball; and two step-brothers, Marvin Webb and Dana Smith.

Roy was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country proudly. He enjoyed attending church services at Trinity Healthcare. He had a heart of gold and loved helping others, especially those at Huntington A.A., where he supported countless individuals on their journey to recovery. Roy leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion.

Those left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Freddie (Sharon) Shanklin and Luther (Iris) Shanklin; one sister, Deborah Ferrell; two step-sisters, Tammy Webb and Cheryl Webb; and his step-mother, Pearl Shanklin. Additionally, Roy leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, with Pastor Tim Shuff officiating.

Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Chapter #6153, American Legion Chapter #103 of Chapmanville, and DAV Chapter #39 of Harts.
