Roger Dale Dingess, 76, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
He was born August 22, 1948, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Dell and Exie Meade Dingess.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scott Allen Dingess; one daughter, Tara Nicole Dingess; and one brother, Larry Dingess.
Roger lived a life of faith, family, and service. He learned typesetting while working for The Logan Banner and developed computer skills, photography expertise, and print technology at Logan General Hospital. He served as minister at Uneeda Church of Christ for over 25 years. He truly loved his church and congregation. He enjoyed Bible study, fishing and hunting, motorcycles, and caring for his beloved dog, Gunner. Most of all, he loved his family. He cared for his mother, Exie, until her death. His love for Shirley, his wife of 57 years, was deep and true.
Roger survived tremendous hardship – childhood polio, the death of his children, Scott and Tara, the separation from his grandchildren, and the indignities of fading health as he aged. He remained happy, joyful, and full of good humor and spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Farley Dingess; his sister, Karen Dingess (Mark Gamin) of Lakewood, Ohio; his granddaughters, Madelyn, Kynlee, and Harper Scott; nieces and nephews including B.J. Muselin of Chapmanville, WV, Kayla Gamin of Maryland, and Zane Gamin of Idaho; and a lifelong family friend, Pam Bell.
