Robert Thomas "Tom" Murray Obituary

 

Robert Thomas “Tom” Murray, 70, of Crooked Creek, WV, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 26, 1951, at Logan, WV, he was the son of the late Raymond Elmer and Harriett Hutton Gilmour Murray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carolyn Mahon and Nancy Kirk.

Tom was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and worked as a coal miner until his retirement from Sidney Coal Company in 2015. Tom was an avid deer hunter, and he enjoyed fishing and collecting coins and guns. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandson, Maverick. Tom had a larger-than-life personality and will be remembered for his jokes and sense of humor.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Loretta Murray of Crooked Creek, WV; one daughter, Harriett “Sis” Cooper of Crooked Creek, WV; one son, Shannon Scott Murray of Florida; his grandson, Maverick Thomas Cooper; one brother, Chigger Murray of Crooked Creek, WV; one sister, Beverly Murray Strizzi of Crooked Creek, WV; nieces, Alisha “Big Cat” Murray of Hurrican, WV, Nickolena “Nico” Fortuna of Crooked Creek, WV, and Melanie Kirk of Ohio; nephew, Davey Strizzi of Ohio, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. Tom was also cherished by many friends and neighbors.

To honor Tom’s wishes, his remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.
