Robert Ray “Bob” Smith, 84, of Gordon, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 18, 2024, leaving from his residence.
He was born June 1, 1940, at Julian, WV, a son of the late Henry and Ethel Long Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Affectionately known as Bob, he retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways where he dedicated many years of serving the public. He was known as a kind Christian man, and his love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a member of the Browns Branch Freewill Baptist Church. Above all, Bob loved his family unconditionally. He will long be remembered for his kindness toward others.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Vinnie Smith; two daughters, Karen Smith Zornes and Judy Cook; one son, Robert Smith; one sister, Gloria Jean; four step-children, Vickie Parks, Kimberly White, Raymond White, and Jimmy White; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends.
At Bob’s request, his remains will be cremated, and there will be no services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
