Robert Hays "Bob" Perry, Sr. Obituary

Robert Hays “Bob” Perry, Sr., 84, of Lyburn, WV, departed this life on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his residence.

He was born March 4, 1940, at Lyburn, WV, a son of the late Denver and Lorna Delong Perry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith K. Perry; his second wife, Naomi Collins Perry; one son, Robert Hays Perry, Jr.; one grandson, Kenneth “Bub” Ellison; and his beloved canine companion, Flash.

Bob began his career in auto body repair and painting, which was his true passion. With a vision and an entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Perry's Auto Body, where he not only excelled in his trade but also shared his knowledge generously, teaching many the tricks of his trade. Bob took great pride in his work, and his gifted hands restored countless vehicles back to their former glory. He had also worked as a former coal miner. Outside the garage, Bob's zest for life was evident in his personal interests. He was an avid motorcyclist. At home, he could often be found sitting on his porch, enjoying the company of friends and family. Bob also enjoyed his social life, which reflected his outgoing nature and personality.

Above all, Bob was devoted to his family as a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His giving heart knew no bounds, and he often went out of his way to help others in need. Bob's legacy is one of love, craftsmanship, and selflessness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, James “Jim” (Katrina) Perry of Lyburn, WV, Sherrie (Kenny) Ellison and Jean (Donald) Ellison both of Asheboro, NC, and Cathy (James) Curry of Whitesburg, TN; his stepchildren, Carla (Brian) Hunt and David Cline both of Asheboro, NC, and Freddie Sansom of Texas; his grandchildren, Robert Lee Perry, Steven Perry, Timmy Perry, Michael Perry, Adrian Chippent, James Chambers, Jennifer Crosby, Kyle Perry, Kayla May, Cheryl Challender, Kimberly Ellison, Donald Ellison, II, Joshua Curry, and Matthew Curry; a multitude of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Bonnie Conn, Midge Gore, Richard Perry, and Dorothy Thomas. Additionally, Bob leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
