Robert "Bob" Weisner Obituary


Robert Barkley “Bob” Weisner, 68, of Justice Addition, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, into the loving arms of his Heavenly father. He was born April 15, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Alice Weisner of Pittsburgh, PA.

He is survived by his domestic partner, Nancy Adams Adkins; his adopted family: Sandra Adams, Kelly Carrillo, Reather (Becky) Gilman all of Whitman, WV, J.D. (Millie) Wolfe of Huntington, WV; and his beloved dog, Princess. He is also survived by cousins: Janice Carlino, Mark Shafer, and David Shafer all of Pittsburgh, PA. He also leaves behind special friends: Timmy (Melissa) Jarrell, Tom Staggs, and Doug McEwain; also many friends and co-workers.

Bob graduated from Penn Hills Schools in June 1970. He studied broadcasting journalism at Duquesne, PA. He came to Logan, WV, in 1974. He was the former Director of News and Sports Programming at WVOW Radio, Stratton Street, Logan, WV, from 1974 to 2010.

Bob’s most accomplished feat came on June 2, 2017, when he received a call notifying him that he had been inducted into the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame. He stated many times that this accomplishment was one of his best kept secrets in WV. He loved to read, and his most favorite books were “The Purpose”, “Drive Life”, “The Source of My Strength”, and “Experience God”. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at 7 pm at Evans Funeral Home with Bill McDonald officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

To honor his wishes, he will be cremated following the service.
