Rinda Slater Payne

Rinda Slater Payne, 75, of Dingess, WV, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 17, 2022, leaving from her residence.

She was born April 19, 1946, to the late Alford and Roanna Marcum Meade in Kirk, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Meade; one sister, Edna Messer; and one special grandson, Delmer Lee “DJ” Tomblin, Jr.

Rinda was a beautiful soul and never met a stranger. She was a child of God who loved the Lord and doing work in her local church. She loved her kids and grandkids. A traveler, Rinda enjoyed riding around, seeing new things and exploring new places.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 31 years, Gilbert Payne; two daughters, Jennifer Slater and Joanna Blackburn; one son, Michael Slater; seven grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Tomblin, Kevin Slater, Jessica (Kevin) Workman, Ryan (Mollie) Blackburn, Bethany Kozee, Briana Slater, and Maverick Slater; nineteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas Marcum, Virgil (Estel) Meade, and Archie (Tabatha) Meade; one sister, Alberta Hannah. Additionally, Rinda leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Valley of Decision Church at Logan, WV, with Pastor William Tomblin officiating.

Burial will follow in Tomblin Cemetery at Logan, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Valley of Decision Church at Logan, WV, after 6:00 p.m.
