Rev. Argil Maynard, 85, of Williamson, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, leaving from Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan at Logan, WV.
Born October 12, 1936, at Warfield, KY, he was the son of the late Melvin and Evelyn Stanley Maynard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Otis Maynard; one sister, Oretha Leffler; and one grandson, Glenn Stratton, III.
Argil made his living as a coal miner. Several years after he left the coal mines, he also worked as a carpenter. A blood-bought, born-again, and devout Christian, Argil preached the Gospel for 57 years and was a faithful member of the Maher Free Will Baptist Church at Maher, WV. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and studying his Bible. Devoted to his family, Argil will be sorely missed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 56 years, Reva G. Maynard; three daughters, Regina (Landon) Shaffer of Hickory, NC, Sharon (Sidney) Gilman of Williamson, WV, and Crystal (John) Rust of New Haven, KY; two sons, Joe (Teresa) Maynard of Naugatuck, WV, and Argil E. Maynard of Williamson, WV; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one special friend, Buddy Thompson. Additionally, Argil leaves behind his nieces and nephews along with his church family and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at the Maher Free Will Baptist Church at Maher, WV, with Pastor Matthew Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountan View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Maher Free Will Baptist Church at Maher, WV, on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
