Ray Meade, 93, of Whitman, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2026.

He was born September 7, 1932, in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late Elisha and Mearle Meade.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, June Marjorie Meade; one daughter, Debbie Ann Meade; siblings, Hallie, Taylor, Exie, Frankie, Joyce, and Gracie.

Ray was a 32nd degree Master Mason of Aracoma Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M. in Logan, WV, a retired WV State Mine Inspector, a section foreman at #28 Island Creek Coal Company, and a member of the #20 Whitman Community Church. Ray was also a Veteran of the United States Army.

Those left behind to enjoy his memory include his wife, Bonnie; his two sons, Dennis Ray (Deb) and David Lee (Summer); he is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

Special Thanks to his sister-in-law, Virginia Sony (Tubby), Rodney and Kathy Tomblin, Missy Adkins, his nephew, Timothy Justice, and Hospice of Huntington.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Joaquine Ooten officiating.

Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
