Ralph Edward Jarrell, 71, of Lake, WV, departed this life on March 7, 2025, at Boone Memorial Hospital at Madison, WV.

He was born May 30, 1953, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Denver Jarrell and Betty Lou Caldwell Williamson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Judy Chambers-Jarrell; and one sister, Peggy Sue.

Ralph retired from Sharples Coal. He was a dedicated member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church at Mill Creek. Ralph and Judy loved children so much that they opened their home to many foster kids throughout the years. 

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Sydney (Ryan) Hepler and Alexis Jarrell (Dale Workman); two sons, Homer Maynard and Charlie Backus (Jayla Damron); two brothers, Frank Jarrell and Jack (Dreama) Jarrell; one sister, Ella “Sally” Childers;  one brother-in-law, Franklin Chambers; several nieces and nephews as well grandchildren, Kendal Chambers, Colton Hepler, Christopher Maynard, and Ricky and Jaxson Backus; as well as a host a family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Roscoe Chafin officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV. Ralph’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
