Polly Vance Hodge, 91, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, leaving from the Logan Center at Logan, WV.
She was born May 7, 1930, at Wayne County, WV, to the late Owen Vance, Sr., and Betty Maynard Vance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Haskell “Gene” Hodge; five brothers, App Vance, Mose Vance, Charlie Vance, Owen Vance, Jr., and Paris Vance; and six sisters, Helen Nelson, Dicie Norman, Mary Williamson, Elsie Queen, Bessie Wiley, and Lorene Manns.
Polly was a homemaker. She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Shamrock Freewill Baptist Church. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Polly was very devoted to her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Pamela (Kenneth) Barker of Garrett Fork; three grandsons, Aaron (Kandi) Perry of Garrett Fork, Matthew (Misty) Perry of Golf Meadows, and Brenton (Natalie Malloy) Mays of Columbus, OH; two great-grandchildren, Addyson Perry and Cooper Perry; and one special friend, whom she loved very much, Debbie (Paul) Ball. Additionally, Polly also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
Polly’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Logan Center for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided to Polly during her stay.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV, with Rev. Roscoe Chafin officiating.
Following the services, Polly will be lovingly laid to rest beside her husband.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
