Phyllis Sue Nelson, 80, of Logan, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2024, leaving from Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan.

She was born January 31, 1944, at Henlawson, WV, a daughter of the late Willie Seth Simpkins and Lillie Mae Webb Simpkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Nelson; her daughter, Patty Sue Nelson; five brothers, John Simpkins, Steve Simpkins, Delmer Simpkins, Orie Simpkins, and William “Bill” Simpkins; and one sister, Genevieve Blackburn.

Phyllis was a devout Christian and had been a dedicated member of the Church of God for many years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and could often be seen sitting on her porch, a pastime that brought her much joy. She was strong in her faith and loved to read the Bible. Her gentle spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Phyllis is survived by five sisters, Lola Ferguson of Flat Gap, KY, Bonnie (Joe) Fleece of Belle Center, OH, Mary Mefford of Bremen, KY, Diane Dean of Central City, KY, and Deloris Nelson of Henlawson, WV; one brother, Bruce (Betty) Simpkins of Henlawson, WV; and her very special friend and caregiver, Brenda Sizemore of West Logan, WV. Additionally, Phyllis leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, with Rev. Moss Workman officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV.

Following all services, Phyllis will be lovingly laid to rest beside her husband, Pat, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
