Phoebe Lynn (Sutherland) Alberts, 64 of Whitman, WV, departed this life Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at LRMC surrounded by her family. 

She was born April 3, 1961, at Holden Hospital, to the late Everett & Jane Sutherland of Whitman. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rusty Alberts, two brothers, William Kay Sutherland & Jesse Richard Sutherland, one sister, Marietta Sutherland, and one Nephew, Brad Whitt.

Phoebe dedicated 42 years to helping veterans with the WV Department of Veterans Assistance. In this time, she helped many people, made everlasting friendships, and never met a stranger. 

Those left to cherish her loving memory include her three daughters, Hollie Barnette, Pamela (Missy White) Alberts, and Kaycee (Terry) Hodges all of Whitman. Her grandchildren, Hunter (Lexi Powell) Barnette, Kaylee (Cody Williams) Barnette, and Alexia (Scooter) Lackey. One great-grandchild, Trace Lackey. Two sisters, Alma White and Hattie Frye; and one brother, Doyle (Gloria) Sutherland along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A special nephew, Chad Whitt, and a family friend, Ray. 

Her family would like to thank the ICU, CCU, and IMCU staff at LRMC for their exceptional care and attentiveness they showed during her final days of life. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated with a celebration of life being held at a later date.
