Phillip Darrell Tomblin, known as “Big Darrell”, to many family and friends. He was 71 of Mechanicsburg, Ohio departed this earth for Heaven on Friday, October 7, 2022.

Darrell was born April 30,1951 in West Virginia the son of the late Lattie Eugene and Corrine (McNeely) Tomblin. He graduated from Logan High School and this is where he learned the trade of a Tool and Dye Machinist. Darrell retired from Héroux-Devtek formally known as Eagle Tool. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Darrell was an avid Blood Donor and cared about helping others.

Darrell was a member of the Forrest Valley Freewill Baptist Church in Springfield, Ohio. He believed in God and read his Bible daily. Everyone that knew him loved him and his laughter. Darrell loved his Church family and friends. He participated in the Church activities.

Darrell was a family man. He loved and enjoyed his family and friends. Darrell loved the outdoors and became a great fisherman and hunter. He loved to spend time riding his 4-Wheeler. Darrell had a love for sports and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed going to the games. His favorite football team was the Browns and OSU (where Darrell II graduated from).

Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Nettie (Walls) Tomblin of 48 years; son, Phillip Darrell Tomblin II whom is very proud of; brothers, Danny (Kay) Tomblin, Neil Tomblin, Randall Tomblin, and Gary (Debra) Tomblin.

Darrell is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Rodney Tomblin; sister, Joan Tomblin; father and mother-in-law, Winford and Myrtle (Meeks) Dalton; grandparents, Siebert (Thelma Frye) McNeely, Roy (Sarah Manns) Tomblin, Sherman and Nettie (Williamson) Meeks.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 in the Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Road, Springfield, Ohio 45504, with Pastor Del Wallace officiating; where friends may call from 11:00 – 1:00 prior.

Services are entrusted to SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
