Paul Allen Weaver, musician, storyteller, comedian, pug daddy, and all-around nice guy, unexpectedly passed away on August 16, 2023. He was 46 years old. Paul was born on June 5, 1977, in Charleston, WV. He was the son of the late Floyd and Kathy Weaver.
Paul spent his teen years pursuing his true passion, music. A self-taught musician, he played many instruments, including the bassoon, guitar, and upright bass. Most weekends were spent playing all ages shows, creating chaos in the “babe magnet”, and becoming a local punk rock legend. He continued to play music throughout his life. Paul recorded many local bands in his Castle Brownskull studio. He was in A LOT of bands; Most notably FuD, where he played the character of Mic McMick.
After high school, Paul attended trade school to become a certified electrician. Next, Paul’s compassionate heart and desire to help others led him to pursue a degree in social work from WVSU. He graduated cum laude and was a member of Alpha Delta Mu honor society.
Paul enjoyed learning new things. It was nothing to come home and find he’d built a theremin or record shelf. He loved animals (especially pugs), flower gardening, and record collecting,
Paul was known for his big laugh and unique stories. His wit was sharp and his smile was beautiful. Paul will be missed by many. Paul’s friends meant everything to him; He loved them immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Kathy Weaver.
He is survived by his beloved pugs, Margot and Baby Cakes; Grandmother, Yvonne Halstead; Sister, Michelle Hunter; Uncle, Billy Halstead; Aunt, Teresa Brown; Close Friends, Shanna Nelson, Bob Morris, Anthony Hunter, Jay Martin, Scott Eskew, and of course “The H boys”.
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 3 p.m to 6 p.m. at the West Virginia State University Erickson Alumni Center in Institute, WV. Bring your best stories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paul’s Go Fund Me campaign. This will be used to cover his final expenses. If you’d like to do something for Margot and Baby Cakes they could use pet store gift cards, chewies, snacks, and squeaky toys.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
