Patsy Kay Clay, 83, of Crown, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, leaving from her residence.
She was born on January 25, 1942, at Gordon, WV, a daughter of the late Ruby Layne.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Freddie L. Clay; one grandson, Randy L. Bragg, II; one sister, Betty Hunter; and several other family members.
Over the years, Patsy was devoted to her family and faith. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for many years where she enjoyed attending the Ladies Aide. She loved being the wedding decorator of weddings that her husband, Freddie, officiated.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Timmy (Pam) Clay of Danville, WV; two daughters, Sherri Clay of Accoville, WV, and Barbara (Clayton) Hicks of Madison, WV; six grandchildren, Shaun (Mary) Clay, Pastor Joshua (Tiffany) Clay, Michael Clay, Cody Brickles, Matthew Bragg, and a special granddaughter with whom she had a special bond and loved like a daughter, Jacklyn Bragg; 10 great-grandchildren, Gunnar Bragg, Alliyah Smith, Alauna Bragg, Haylee Bragg, Gannon Bragg, Sid Clay, Draven Clay, Scarlett Clay, Sophie Clay, and Lola Clay; two sisters, Lillie White Barker and Sue Layne Podunavac; and two brothers, Jimmy (Jean) Layne and Richard Layne. Additionally, Patsy leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank Pride Community Services and Dignity Hospice for their kindness, care, and support. A special thank you to her caregivers, her special granddaughter, Jackie Bragg, and her daughter-in-law, Pam Clay, along with special friends, Patty Sewell and Renee Browning.
Patsy wished to be cremated. The family will hold a private gathering to honor her memory. No services will be held, per her request.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
