Osie Butcher, 87, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

He was born August 30, 1936, at Chapmanville, WV, a son of the late Luther and Ruby Dingess Butcher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Todd Wells; one son-in-law, Terry Collins; one sister, Myrtle Lowe; and his parents-in-law, Grover and Tilda Conley.

Osie was a coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. He was employed with Dehue Coal Company for 19 years. He was also an avid coon hunter. Above all, Osie was a family man at heart. His love for his family was immeasurable, and his grandchildren were the center of his universe. His legacy is one of unwavering work ethic, boundless love, and the simple pleasures of life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Conley Butcher; three daughters, Patti (Brad) Belcher, Wilma Collins, and Sharon Putman; his grandchildren, Selena Wells, Shannon Wells, Derrick (Amanda) Wells, and Gabe (Deidra) Collins; his great-grandchildren, Corey Wells, Christopher Wells, Jyrece Barham, Rylee Pritchard, Ty Wells, Piper Wells, and Zaylee Wells; two great-great-grandchildren, Elliott Cash Wells and Sage Wells; two sisters, Doris (Bob) Deskins and Linda Butcher; and a special friend who was like a son, Keith Conley. Additionally, Osie leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Grover Conley Cemetery at Smokehouse, with Pastor Jerry Mann officiating.
