Nora L. Collins Obituary

Nora L. Collins reached the end of her life and gained heaven in the early morning hours of November 17, 2024. During her 89 years, she was a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, aunt, cousin, daughter, sister, wife, and friend. Most importantly, she was a follower of Jesus Christ since she was a teenager.

Nora enjoyed the simple things in life. She cared deeply for others and was generous with all she had. She knew and followed the biblical teaching from Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves.”

Born August 13, 1935, in Lincoln County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mollie Mullins of Chapmanville, WV. Others who preceded her in death are her husband, Johnny Collins; sister, Kathleen Estep; grandson, John Patrick Collins; and grandson, Jeffrey Mounts.

She is survived by many close friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as her children, Sherri Mounts (JT), Randy Williams (Enda), and Donnie Williams (Cinda). Step-Sons, Johnny Collins and Mike Collins. Her grandchildren: Jason Mounts (Marie), Blake Williams (Carley), Jennifer Collins Conner (Dan), Amanda Collins Duncan (Jonathan), Mary Collins Schram (Jim), Molly Williams Perry (Nick), Abby Williams Shubert (Bailey), and Lexi Williams. Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Samantha, Jacob, Jaylynn, Noah, Samuel, Cameron, and Emmerson. Her sisters, Gloria Walls (Bernie) and Elaine Richards, and her special friend of over 15 years, Clinton Hall.

Dementia was not kind to her, but she was always kind to others, even in her last moments. She was always full of compliments for everyone she met. She enjoyed honey buns, powdered donuts, and coffee; she loved her small WV town, family, church, and friends. Scripture was central to her life. She had many favorite ones, but the one she repeated to her children more often than others was:  “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” 3 John 1:4

A celebration of Nora’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, at 11 am at Chapmanville Church of Christ, a congregation her Father, an Evangelist, helped start in 1942. The interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in Chapmanville.

She was a woman of boundless compassion and strong faith in God. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
