Muriel Jean Dalton, 90, of Harts, WV, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in North Carolina.
Jean was born April 17, 1933, at Harts, WV, to the late Archie and Hettie Browning Manns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dalton.
Jean retired from the Lincoln County Board of Education where she served as a cook for over 20 years. A devoted Christian, she was a member of Guyan Freewill Baptist Church where she was also an active member of the Ladies Aide. She loved going to church and singing in the choir, crocheting, quilting, feeding the hummingbirds, and spending time with all her family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Ray (Charlotte) Smith of Harts, WV; one daughter, Bettina (Rick) Bailey of Elizabeth City, NC; two grandsons, Garron Smith of Harts, WV, and Logan Bailey of Elizabeth City, NC; one granddaughter, Brittany (Jonny) Slazo of Harts, WV; one great-grandson, Austin (Shayla) Smith of Salt Rock, WV; two great-granddaughters, Ava Jean and Morgan Mae Slazo of Harts, WV; and one great-great-grandson, Walker Ray Smith of Salt Rock, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Dave Lucas and Rev. Erbie Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Browning Cemetery at Harts, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
