Michael “Mickey” Justice, 70, of Alum Creek, WV, departed this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born December 1, 1953, at Logan, WV, the son of the late Thomas and Sylvia Grimmett Justice.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Justice; his parents-in-law, Golmer and Ethel Elkins; and two sisters, Mary Nutter and Jewel Maynard.

Mickey was a retired coal miner. He was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was happiest when he was at the family cabin, where countless memories were made with those he loved. Above all, Mickey's greatest pleasure came from the time he spent with his family and grandchildren, whose lives he enriched with his wisdom, kindness, and humor. He was also affectionately known as “Phil” by his family. A cherished family man, Mickey’s legacy of love, strength, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Leighann (Seth) Davidson of Alum Creek, WV; his son, Jason (Morgan) Justice of Alum Creek, WV; two grandchildren, Keegan and Keeley Justice; one bonus granddaughter, Zoey Davidson; four brothers, Tommy (Elaine) Justice of Murrells Inlet, SC, Norman (Sherry) Justice and Jackie Justice both of Davin, WV, and Ed Nutter of Oceana, WV; and one sister, Dorothy (Ben) Toler of Davin, WV. Additionally, Mickey leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial gathering and celebration of Mickey’s life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV.

To honor Mickey’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.
