Michael Stepp Obituary

Michael “Mike” Dee Stepp, 72, pf Logan, WV, passed away on April 22, 2022, at the VA Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton, OH.

He was born to Zeph Stepp and Blanche Murphy Stepp Gore on October 25, 1949, at Delbarton, WV.

Mike was a graduate of the Logan High School Class of 1969. He joined the United States Army following graduation and served in the Vietnam War overseas for a year.

Mike was the husband to the love of his life, the late Blanche Chirico Stepp. They were high school sweethearts that were able to stand the test of time for 40 plus years. One of his biggest accomplishments was being the World’s Best Dad to one daughter, April Stepp Wallace of Kenova, WV. Mike also had the chance to be an incredible Papaw to one granddaughter, who was the apple of his eye, Abigail Adams of Kenova, WV. He was always there for April and Abby through ups and downs, and he taught them how to be hard workers and to love strong.

Mike was a hero and mentor to the many who were lucky enough to cross his path. He was an incredibly hard-working man who worked as an underground electrician in the coal mines for 32 years before retiring. Those that knew Mike knew there was not anything he couldn’t fix or build. He always said, “Do it right the first time or don’t do it at all.” Mike was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Aracoma Lodge #99 A.F. & A.M. in Logan, WV.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Zeph and Blanche; one brother, Larry Stepp; and two special dogs, Baby and Prissy.

Aside from being survived by his daughter and granddaughter, Mike also leaves behind his loving sister, Kyra Noel (Don) of Minford, OH; sister-in-law, Grace Chirico Harris of Huntington, WV; nieces, Mia Lawson (Mikie) of Elkhorn City, KY, and Lynda Hampton (Tom) of Marion, VA; special cousin, David Stepp of DeLand, FL; best friend, Steve Evans of Logan, WV; extra special friends, Elizabeth Stultz Stock of Garner, NC, and Mike and Barb Hunter of Huntington, WV.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Lonnie Gore, Jr., officiating.
