Michael Pennington Obituary

 

Michael Pennington, 67, of Omar, WV, went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2022. 


Born July 3, 1955, he was the son of the late Frank Pennington and Verna (Chafin) Pennington.


Also, preceding him in death was one sister, Judy (Arturo) Ripalda; two sisters-in-law, Jackie (Fugate) Miller and Libby Pennington; two brothers-in-law, Frank Miller and John Propst; and father-in-law, Doug Richardson and mother-in-law, Ann Fugate Richardson.


Michael was survived by his wife, Sherry (Fugate) Pennington, one daughter, Kara Pennington, and one granddaughter, McKenna Bowens, whom he cherished, all of Omar.  He was also survived by one sister, Julie (Pennington) Propst, two brothers, Lester (Brenda) Pennington and Roger Pennington, both of Omar.  He was survived by nieces; Kimberly Propst (Mike Smith) of Wilkinson, Pelar (Victor) Pereira of Warrenton, VA, Vicki (Mandy) Pennington of Holden Beach, NC, Samantha (Timmy) Hooker of Omar, nephews; Johnny (Shawn) Propst of Holden, Steven (Gretchen) Ripalda of Asburn, VA, Craig Pennington, and Rodney Bedford, both of Omar.


Michael was a retired surface miner from Hobet Mining Company.  He was known to his work buddies as “Pea Gravel”.  He was a member of the UMWA Local 8622.  He was also a former member of the Omar Area Crime Watch.  


As per Michael’s request, he was cremated, and there will be no services.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
