Matthew Vincen Scott Fry Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that our beloved Matthew Vincen Scott Fry tragically departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

He was born May 30, 1977, to the late Mary A. Fry of Aracoma, WV.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Curtis and Birdie Fry of Harts, WV; one brother Sean A. Fry of Harts, WV; two uncles Scott and James Fry of Harts, WV; and two aunts Pat Runyon and Linda Fry as well as several cousins.

Those left to cherish Matthew’s memory are his sister, Elizabeth Jo Fry of West Logan, WV; three nephews, Andrew M. Reynolds of Morgantown, WV, Nigel L. Wallace of Atlanta, GA, and Shannon S. Fry of New York; three aunts, B. Joyce Dean Craigo and Vivian L. Fry both of St. Albans, WV, and Jeanette Nippert of Kenova, WV; his beloved goddaughter, Alyssa (daughter of Michael Shell); and his constant canine companion, LuLu, and his brother in Christ for life, Mr. Carlos Evans.

Matt was a 1995 graduate of Logan High School. After graduating, Matt traveled all over the United States and worked doing construction in Ohio before returning to Logan, buying his home and becoming a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church.

As a member for almost 10 years, he worked helping the community and the missions when they came in during the summer. He didn’t miss a day. When he wasn’t there, he was working on his home or in his garden. His gift for growing plants and vegetables allowed him to share his bounty with all who knew him. His great gift for this and to persevere life’s obstacles will remain a comfort to his family and friends.

As it says in Ch. 10:29-31 in the book of Matthew - "Not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without the father knowing".

As we carry on without him, let us remember his favorite verse, 2 Corinthians 5:8 - "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
