Mary E. "Mert" Hunter

Mary E. “Mert” Hunter, 80, of Danville, WV, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, May 5, 2023.

She was the daughter of the late Sears and Ella Mae Williams Miller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kay Ferrell; and one brother, Junior Miller.

Mary retired from the school board system in Broward County, Florida, with a return back home to Madison, WV, where she worked several years at the Boone County Bank, and she was also the night manager at Black Diamond Arbors. She loved to read and would always obtain her books from the Boone Madison Public Library. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and she loved eating chocolate.

She is survived by one brother, Eddie (Betty) Miller of Summersville, WV, and one sister; Bea (Ronny) Vanhoose of Bandytown, WV. Affectionately known as “Mert” to everyone, Mary had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom she loved very much and spoke of often.

The family would like to thank the Black Diamond Arbors at Danville, WV, for the many years they dedicated to taking care of Mert. Also, a special thank you to Trinity Healthcare of Logan for the wonderful care they provided over the past few weeks.

Mert’s wishes were to be cremated, and there will be no services.
