Mark Anthony Lopez, 64, formerly of Logan and Chapmanville, died peacefully at home on July 16, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was a loving husband and father who enjoyed gardening and decorating for holidays. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and especially his beloved WVU Mountaineers. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Okeechobee, Florida.
After graduating from Logan High School in 1975, Mark worked for over 20 years in the coal mines and most recently was employed by Public Partnerships as a Family Person Centered Support worker.
Mark is survived by his wife, Cathy Louise Lopez of Dunbar, sons: Adam Joseph Lopez (Brandi) of Poca and Micah Phillip Martin Lopez at home; granddaughter Rylee Nicole Stoler; sisters: Carmen Delores Smith of South Point Ohio, Carolyn Jo Bradley of Whitman; brother Carlos Lopes (Dolores) of Logan; sister-in-law, Susan Ferrell (Charles) of Naples, FL; brothers-in-law: Joe Thomas (Faye) of Carmel, IN and Jim Thomas (Dorothy) of Huntington, WV and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mary Lopes; father and mother in-law, James and Betty Thomas; sisters: Charlotte Ann Lopes and Mary Katherine Murphy; brothers-in-law: Jack Murphy, Bill Smith, and Benny Bradley; nephew, Joseph Hunter Thomas.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with the Rev. Charles Britt officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
