Mario Dario “The Man” Mendez, Jr., 50, of St. Albans, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, from Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Born July 28, 1971, at Botsford, MI, he was the beloved son of Mario D. Mendez, Sr., and Phyllis Fotta Mendez.
Mario was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Manuel and Delores Mendez, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Mary Fotta; uncles, Manuel Estrada Mendez, Jr., Anthony “Tony” Mendez, and Francis Fotta, Gerald Lansfield, Robert Omerzo, and Walter Piasecki; aunts, Theresa Mendez, Mary Morgan, Alice Piasecki, and Joan Lansfield; his canine companion and dear friend, Chico; and one nephew, Miguel Mendez.
Mario worked as a real estate agent for 7 years at Fatham Realty and served as a member of the WV Board of Realtors. He was an avid lover of all things music, and he enjoyed serving as security at concerts in the Huntington and Charleston areas. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his niece, Trinity. Mario was a devout Christian and loved serving the Lord. When he wasn’t working, you could often see him at car shows, showing off his 2004 Cobra SVT, in which he was very proud.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Mario D. (Phyllis) Mendez, Sr.; one brother, Joey (Tonya) Mendez; one sister, Selena Mendez; and his precious niece, Trinity Mendez. Additionally, Mario also leaves behind a multitude of uncles, aunts, and cousins, along with a host of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at JHL's Country Charm at Scott Depot, WV.
To honor Mario’s wishes, his remains have been cremated.
