Margie Mae Adkins Obituary

 

Margie Mae Adkins, 77, of Harts, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family and loved ones.


Born September 8, 1947, in Harts, she was the daughter of the late Ward and Sallie (Dingess) Browning. She was also preceded in death by her late husband, Claude Dalton.


Margie was a beach enthusiast who enjoyed singing for the lord, sewing, photography, and thrifting. She worked at Logan Manufacturing, owned and operated a grocery store in Toney, WV, and spent 25 years living on Oak Island, North Carolina. Her love for her family, creativity, and community will be fondly remembered.


Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Zane Adkins; her children Stacy Dalton and Samatha Gillum-Dalton; Bonus children Ronald (Georgeann) Adkins, Kimberly Adkins, and Hillary Adkins.


She was the proud grandmother of Tiffany (Jon) Adkins, Brandon (Brittany) Gillum, Darla (Caleb) Hensley, and Dustin Gillum; and great-grandmother to Tiara Adkins, Allison Laws, Teela Adkins, Jazmine Gillum, Lacy Hensley, Carsyn Gillum, and Madelyn Gillum; bonus grandchildren Trenton Toppins, Jayce Richards, Abigail Adkins, Savannah Adkins; and two bonus great-grandchildren.


She will greatly remembered and missed by her close friends and family, along with a host of special cousins.


Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Jimmy Carter officiating.


Burial will follow in the Browning Cemetery at Ferrellsburg, Harts, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be: Brandon Gillum, Dustin Gillum, Jon Adkins, Caleb Hensley, Eddie Adams, and Seth Ward.


Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
