Louise (Hensley) Workman Obituary

Louise Hensley Workman, 91, of Harts, WV went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV. She was born on July 21, 1933, at Whirlwind, WV, the daughter of the late Stonewall and Fannie Hensley.


A lifelong member of Mt. Era Church, Louise's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. Her involvement with the church extended over an incredible 77 years, during which she served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary, and treasurer. Her roles within the church community were carried out with grace and diligence, embodying the spirit of service that she held so dear. With a career spanning almost three decades at the Logan Board of Education, Louise dedicated herself to the betterment of countless young lives through her tireless work and unwavering commitment to education. Louise's interests were deeply rooted in the love for her family. She was a matriarch in the truest sense, tremendously loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The cherished memories created with them are treasures that will live on, bringing comfort and joy to her family as they remember the warmth and affection she so generously gave. 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Billy Workman; brothers, Gilbert Hensley, Edward Hensley, Elmer Hensley, and Paul Hensley; sisters, Braskie McDonald and Sylvia Smith; and son-in-law, P. Russel Yeager.


Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Barbara Workman of Harts, WV, Patricia Yeager, Regina (Robert) Toparis, Vivian (Steve) Dalton, and Corean Workman all of Chapmanville, WV, Doris (Rodger) Florian of Suffolk, VA; son, Gilbert (Brenda) Workman of Spotsylvania, VA; grandchildren, Grant Dalton, Danielle (Dustin) Kolovich, and Taylor (Prestyn) Stover all of Chapmanville, WV, Anthony (Charli) Toparis of Madison, WV, Nathan Yeager and Shaina (Lee) Hazlett both of Charleston, WV, Rachel (Chris) Brewster of Parkersburg, WV, Caleb Toparis of Dandridge, TN, LeeAnn (Steven) Wilson of Gulfport, MS, AJ (Missie) Florian of Spotsylvania, VA, Hayden (Angelika) Workman and Lynné (Nick Onofrio) Workman both of Richmond, VA; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth (Connor), Hannah, Emilee, Abby, Maddy, Adalynn, Dalton, Sophia, Quinn, Chasity, and Kelsey; great-great-grandchildren, Leah, Jeremiah, Cooper, and Grayson; sisters, Elsie Gavin of Flemington, WV, Gloria Parks of Brunswick, OH, and Sue (Bill) Maynard of Medina, OH; brother, Lowell (JoAnne) Hensley of Elyria, OH; and a host of family and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV with Pastors Jimmy Carter and Rick Adkins, officiating. Burial will follow at the Frank Dalton Cemetery at Harts, WV.


Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.


In her final days, Louise was surrounded by the exceptional care of the Logan Regional Medical Center 5th Floor Nursing and Medical staff, Dr. Hajauli, Dr. Robert Toparis, Dr. Anthony Toparis, Dr. Sells, in-house hospice Nurse Practitioner Tammi Blankenship, along with her dedicated Primary Care Physician, Carla Ramey, and her team, the Emergency Room Department, and LEASA. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to these individuals for their unwavering support and care along with the wonderful circle of friends and relatives who supported them, sharing in the laughter and love that Louise brought into our lives. Your presence and companionship during her journey were gifts that we will forever hold dear.
