Louis Belcher Obituary

 

Louis Bradford Belcher, 77, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 29, 2021, leaving from CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.

Born August 10, 1943, at Crawley Creek, he was the son of the late Lee Belcher and Gertrude Butcher Belcher.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Ann Nagy; brothers: Bobby Belcher, Kenneth Belcher, Tommy Joe Belcher, Jimmy Belcher, and Lee Belcher, Jr.; one sister, Elaine Conley; half-brothers: Lilburn Belcher, Jess Belcher, and Clifford Belcher; half-sisters: Hildreth Perry and Easter Surgoine.

Mr. Belcher was a coal miner for many years. He was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He had also previously worked as an insurance agent. A devoted Christian, Louis was a member of the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending his days working outside in the summer, especially in the garden. He had his own way of doing things and enjoyed feeding and playing with his humming birds.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Ruth Ann Belcher; one son, Louis Bradford “Brad” (Patti) Belcher, Jr.; one daughter, Michelle (David Luther) Belcher; his grandchildren: John Trevor Nagy (Alley Hensley), Kelsey Shadd, Taylor Baisden, Christopher Wells, and Cory Wells; two sisters-in-law: Earnestine Belcher and Myrtle Belcher; his dog, Piper; He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, his church family, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel in Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Tony Vance and Rev. Ceburn Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV, with Military Graveside Rites being performed. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
